FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What is the Collision Industry Relief effort?

The “CIR” is a group of individuals from the collision industry who wish to help those who have been affected by a disaster. We have resources in place to help with relocation, employment, housing, transportation, tools and more to get those who have been displaced get back on their feet.

FOR THOSE WHO NEED HELP

How long will it take for CIR to contact me?

CIR’s Relocation Specialists will make contact within 48 hours of your posting the need for help.

Can I expect to stay close to home?

We will try to make every effort to get you assistance in the areas you wish to be located. Please keep in mind that if you wish to relocate, there are more resources outside of the affected areas.

How will I get connected to the shop that will employ me?

Your Relocation Specialist will assist you in making contact with employers that fill your needs. Generally, a phone number and name will be given to you and that person will already be aware you are contacting them.

What about my family, will the shop help them as well?

The CIR effort realizes that most individuals are with a family and we take that into consideration when planning all factors of relocation. We try to match those in need with collision facilities who will help the family get acclimated into the new setting - including housing, schools, insurance contacts, shopping areas, licensing, etc.

What about tools?

If you lost your tools in a disaster, we have a program available that will give you a basic set of tools to go to work with. For more information, please ask the Administration office at: 888-667-7433.

FOR THOSE WHO WANT TO HELP

How do I post a job opening or other assistance?

Go to the tab “I Want to Help”, and fill out the form with all the pertaining information. In the “Comments” box, list a summary of what you are offering; I.E.: Job opening, temporary housing, use of tools, etc. If there is a possible match a Relocation Specialist will contact you for more specific information.

What is “expected” of those who wish to help?

Please read the following Shop Commitment for detailed information:

Shop Commitment

A shop offering to adopt a family should be willing to help the Relocation Specialist by:

  1. Transporting the family to your town. (Shop or community donation possible)

  2. Assisting in locating temporary, as well as long term, housing (community donations very possible)

  3. Employment at your shop with benefits and salaries equivalent to their ability and market conditions.  Other benefits they may have received or might receive have nothing to do with salaries being paid.

  4. Provide a welcome reception for the family, the employees and their family as well as others in the community that might be able to assist in the relocation effort.  It will be those other folks and organizations who might have the ability to assist financially with some of the out of pocket expenses.

  5. Spend a day familiarizing the family with the town, shopping, banking, schools, etc.  Remember, they are starting from scratch, no checking account, credit cards, where to shop and where to go to school etc. etc.  You will need to be their helping hand for at least a day or two to begin with and then to insure their involvement into the community.

When will I hear from someone with CIR?

If you have submitted information to the website, you are taken into consideration when you match the information received from a displaced person. When this happens, a Relocation Specialist will contact you for specific information about the resources you have offered. If you are a good match, the Relocation Specialist will put you in contact with the displaced person, or visa-versa.

What if I’m in the affected area, Are my potential employees going to leave?

A lot of resources are available in the affected regions to employ individuals, especially if they do not wish to be relocated out of the area. If a facility is functioning and can use extra help, then you should post this information on the ‘I Want to Help’ tab of the website. (See above Question: How do I post a job opening or other assistance?)
